Job Description:

The Project Manager (PM), Dust Mitigation coordinates project personnel and resources to mitigate the generation of dust resulting from construction and operational activities.  The PM is responsible to implement dust mitigation and exposure controls with the authority to direct construction and production operations to meet dust management plans.  The PM provides advice to the Project Management Team on resources needed to effectively implement dust mitigation measures, works with Construction and Production management on implementation of control measures and with Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene on continually improving dust mitigation efforts.
 
Responsibilities 
Work with Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Construction, Production and Maintenance teams to implement dust mitigation plans and exposure controls in operations
Operationalize dust control measures, including but not limited to, haul road maintenance, application of palliatives, dust suppression systems related to excavation, tunnelling, aggregate and concrete production and placement
Identify equipment, techniques and methods to reduce fugitive dust emissions from roads, construction works, concrete and aggregate plants and other project activities 
Develop area specific dust mitigation plans with Technical, Engineering, Construction and Health & Safety Teams
Monitor the effectiveness of dust mitigation / exposure controls
Evaluate suppliers of dust mitigation / suppression technologies including products, equipment and systems 
Provide information and recommendations to the Project Management Team on status of controls implemented, effectiveness of the controls and opportunities for improvement
Coordinate response to client concerns related to dust mitigation
Work with Industrial Hygiene team to establish credible exposure data for operational activities
Provide construction supervisor training/coaching/ and possibly competency with respect to dust mitigation methods. 

Job Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
Proven problem-solving abilities; ability to operationalize conceptual plans
Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written)
Good working knowledge of construction equipment and methods, monitoring field operations
 
Experience and Qualifications
15 years + experience in construction, resource industry
Minimum 5 years experience in management positions, preferably on major projects
10+ in an operational role with supervisory experience
Technical qualifications such as forestry, engineering, project management would be an asset
Valid driver’s license
Works well in a field and office environment
