  • Lead the development of and implement First Nation collaborative relationship plans and strategies working with BC Hydro business units internally and with First Nations
  • *Represent BC Hydro with First Nations, organize and carry out First Nations consultation activities to support BC Hydro projects
  • Develop consultation/project plans which include project milestones and budget forecasts; report out on implementation of project plans * Provide expert advice and direction to other business units
  • Manage contractual relationships between First Nations and BC Hydro
  • Conduct analysis and resolve highly complex First Nation issues working closely with other BC Hydro business units
  • Have corporate-wide responsibility for First Nations issues as they relate to BC Hydro's generation, transmission and distribution facilities; responsibilities will vary to align to the overall business priorities of the Indigenous Relations & Negotiations business unit

Job Requirements:

  • University degree in engineering, public or business administration, public policy, or equivalent
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience
  • The propensity to work well in teams and independently
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills; diligent drafting/editing skills essential
  • Project management skills and experience working in a large regulated corporate environment
  • Proven ability to develop and advance complex strategic business solutions
  • Strong background in business planning and reporting with well-developed analytical skills
  • Expertise in negotiations
  • Strong persuasive influencing skills
  • The ability to work in a busy environment, with competing priorities and limited direction
  • Comprehensive understanding of the goals and perspectives of Indigenous people in BC andknowledge of First Nations issues as they relate to infrastructure projects and the energy industry
  • The ability and desire to travel to First Nations Communities in the North
  • Proven success in developing and implementing First Nations consultation plans (are assets)
  • Background working with First Nations or on issues impacting First Nations (an asset)
  • Solution-based attitude with a strong bias for action
  • This location is eligible for a Remote Incentive of 12%. Remote Incentives are paid bi-weekly to Full-Time Regular employees working in eligible remote locations.
  • *This location is eligible for Extended Health Care Medical Travel Benefit. The Extended Health Care Medical Travel Benefit is extended to Full-Time Regular, Part-Time Regular and Full-Time Temporary employees who are permanently working in eligible remote locations.
  • A condition of employment for this job is that you maintain the following requirements in good standing:
  • Driver's License Type = Class 5
  • This role is particularly well-suited for professionals who enjoy working in new and evolving areas where they are required to seek solutions where industry or legal precedents are constantly evolving.
