Job Description:

Primary Function/Objective
Sales Associates are responsible for specifically assigned department(s), ensuring a safe, clean, efficient environment, and day-to-day projects (assigned by management).The Department Head follows the same regular duties and responsibilities of the sales associates, while also ordering for, and maintaining their departments.
-  Follow all regular duties and responsibilities of sales associates, including providing service to in-store and phone customers, process and pull merchandise for deliveries, process and pull merchandise for orders and deliveries, order regular and special order merchandise, communicate product knowledge to customers, etc.
-  Provide customers with prompt, courteous, helpful and friendly service
-  Communicate product knowledge to the customer and assist them in locating and comparing merchandise, and give advice to help them complete their projects
-  Assist phone customers by answering questions, transferring calls, taking messages or taking phone orders
-  Process and pull merchandise for deliveries
-  Order and re-order regular and special order merchandise
-  Under the direction of the Floor Supervisor and Assistant Manager:
1.  Manage and scrutinize department P.O.’s and vendor orders
2.  Oversee merchandise flow and manage inventory
3.  Pay special attention to overstock items, back-orders, discounted items, and damaged goods.
4.  Slot-code regularly
5.  Maximize the profitability of feature ends and the power aisle
6.  Participate in the preparation of advertising programs and special promotions
7.  Participate in regular walk thru’s with the Floor Supervisor and/or Assistant Manager, monitoring departments flow and merchandising
8.  Work in assigned department/section, but be knowledgeable in all areas of the store, with items in stock, yard inventory, including product price, use and operation in order to help any customer
9.  Become familiar with other departments, employees and their areas of experience
10. Direct customer to check-out for purchases, charges, and returns. Follow through if necessary
11. Follow procedures and maintain standards according to store policy
12. Be available to fellow sales associates for general inquiries, training, advice, guidance, etc., regarding products in your department(s).
13. Ensure that all safety requirements and regulations are met within department(s). Report any potential hazards and unsafe behaviour to management in order to have the situation corrected.
14. Work with Management and Supervisor to ensure that all operations of department(s) is running smoothly, including merchandising, promotions, visual appearance (displays, promotions, etc.)
15. Bring real or anticipated operating problems promptly to the attention of management; Make suggestions for rule or policy changes that could improve sales, profits, efficiency, morale, general operations, etc.
16. Other duties as assigned that may be necessary and required

-  Ensure department is well stocked and merchandised
-  Ensure a neat, tidy, pleasing, safe and organized environment
-  Prevent loss and damage to merchandise, and keep error and / or theft to a minimum 

Customer Service
-  Provide customers with prompt, courteous, helpful and friendly service and ensure customers have had a positive shopping experience by pleasantly greeting them upon entering, as well as leaving the store
-  Greet and verbally communicate with customers both in person and by telephone
-  Resolve customer claims and /or complaints in a way consistent with company policy

-  Communicate & cooperate well with coworkers and management, contribute to a positive team atmosphere
-  Set a good example by always following company policies and procedures; attend meetings, training, etc.
-  Contribute to a positive team atmosphere 

Work Conditions
-  Work weeks are 5 days, Monday to Saturday, 8 hours per day
-  Some physical activity required, including lifting, reaching overhead, bending, squatting, kneeling, and standing/walking for extended periods of time
-  Report directly to store and assistant managers
-  Meet with management for quarterly/annual performance review
-  Participate in regular cycle counting, and assist in taking annual inventory counts
