Job Description:

Environmental Consultant:  Our Alberta based consulting firm is currently seeking career minded individuals to join our Northern Alberta/BC team. Our firm provides precise, prompt and reliable assessment information related to building environments. Candidates will display a high level of integrity and have strong communication skills. The ability programs and a willingness to undertake training in multiple disciplines to become fluent in the legislation, guidelines and requirements pertaining to building indoor air quality is essential.
Hours are typically Monday to Friday, 8 hour days but as we are driven by project to project demands the ability to work evenings and weekends and travel out of town to service our clients’ is essential for the successful candidates.
Remuneration will be dependent on experience. Construction, disaster restoration, indoor air quality experience an asset but not required, we will train the right applicants. -  Understand and implement all aspects of health and safety in the workplace
-  Schedule and conduct site visits and inspections.
-  Establish sampling strategies for particular contaminants including asbestos, mould, and indoor air quality components.
-  Collect, interpret and analyze data in relation to legislative requirements.
-  Suggest solutions for control and/or abatement/remediation of contaminants.
-  Ensure compliance with legislation during asbestos abatement projects
-  Prepare technical reports based on sampling and abatement/remediation conducted.
-  Analyze laboratory results and determine exposures of individuals based on Alberta Occupational Exposure Limits.
-  Attend client meetings to convey results and address concerns of employees.
-  Schedule and supervise sub-contractors and liaise between clients and subcontractors
-  Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner
-  Foster and maintain long-term client relationships
-  In-House training is provided.

Job Requirements:

-  Related experience with building construction, disaster restoration and/or maintenance is an asset.
-  Thorough knowledge of the construction and performance of various building envelope assemblies.
-  Able to work well in a team environment.
-  High level of verbal and written communication skills.
-  Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle;  be able to provide a clean driver abstract
-  Flexible to travel throughout Northern Alberta and British Columbia and be out of town for a few days at a time.

-  Willing to work in the field (amount of field work depends on job level and project workload.)
-  Fluent in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Working Conditions:
-  44 Hour work week with overtime: schedule based on a project to project basis.
-  Weekend and evening work will be required.
-  Travel throughout the city and surrounding areas.  Periodic travel will be required – travel/mileage reimbursement.
-  Requirements to wear personal protective equipment (respirator, hard hat, steel-toed boots, etc.)
-  Able to pass RCMP security clearance requirements.
