Conveyor Specialist

Located at the Site C Dam, Peace River Hydro Partners is the prime contractor on the BC Hydro Site C Clean Energy Project. Reporting to the RCC Construction Manager, the Conveyor Specialist provides technical support to personnel to ensure conveyor construction, maintenance, and on-going operation complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and drawings.

Salary:                  $150,000.00 per annum  
Term:                   Full time, permanent
Hours:                  7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am, 14 days in and 7 days out.

  • Preparation of conveyor system work plans and look-ahead schedules
  • Assists in the completion of quantity take-offs and purchase requisitions for conveyor related materials
  • Maintains all plant equipment including belts by performing cuts, installation, jointing, etc
  • Liaising with designers, sub-contractors, quantity tracking, and reporting for all conveyor related work
  • Provide process planning and project management services for conveyor systems
  • Lead cross functional teams on conveyor projects
  • Perform conveyor validation work at plant sites with client, contractors and/or plant skilled trades personnel with a special emphasis on safety
  • Provide technical direction to conveyor suppliers and conveyor support personnel
  • Diagnose and correct deficiencies in conveyor system design, implementation and operation
  • Such other specific duties and responsibilities relating to the project as assigned by his/her supervisor

Job Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of civil construction engineering including coordination and supervision of civil construction teams
  • Expert knowledge water stop systems, aggregates stock management, and maintenance of related components (feeders, hoppers, electric motors, gearboxes, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of CAD, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
Experience/ Qualifications
  • 5 years experience setting up, maintaining, and operating conveyors systems in RCC and CVC plants
  • Previous experience working on civil construction projects, preferably hydro electric dams
Working Conditions
  • Must be physically fit and able to work in remote camp locations
  • Outdoor work subject to extreme weather changes
Please Note: This is a site-based position located at the Site C Dam in Fort St. John, British Columbia. Preference will be given to qualified, local candidates. However, we will also consider fly in/out candidates based out of Vancouver, Nanaimo, Kelowna, Calgary, or Edmonton. Rotational employees are required to work a 14/7 rotation; flights and camp accommodations are provided while on shift.
