JOB DESCRIPTION
 
Duties:
  • The Site C Interface Engineer is an intermediate to senior professional engineer with experience coordinating with multiple large scale contractors in a heavy civil, mechanical and electrical mega project environment.
  • Reporting to the Site C Interface Manager, the Interface Engineer will assist with planning and monitoring the points of interaction between the various contractors and stakeholders on the Main Civil Works (MCW), Generating Station and Spillways (GSS), Turbine and Generators (T&G), Transmission and Distribution (T&D) and other construction works of the Site C Project.
  • Interface Engineers will play an active role in managing construction interface milestones, specifically working proactively to clearly align contract deliverables and expectations during asset handovers.
 
Key Responsibilities Include :
 
  • Work with Engineering Design, Construction Management, and Project Management groups to facilitate and manage the contract interfaces outlined in the various contracts (MCW, GSS, T&G, T&D, etc.);
  • Participate in Engineering, Construction, and Project Management meetings to proactively identify issues with potential for impact to cost or schedule which span across contracts
  • Collaborate with Project Controls to track contractor performance, schedule and change
  • Preparation of interface conflict and gap analysis reports to minimize or remove interface issues;
  • Participate in the identification and management of interface risks;
  • Promote clear, accurate, timely and consistent communication with contracts for exchanging interface information;
  • Proactively document, progress, and report-out on Interface Agreements between contracts;
  • Prepare and deliver interface presentations to Project stakeholders;
  • Assist with continuous development and awareness of Interface Management processes;
  • Prepare letters and field advice memos for formal contractor communications
  • Facilitate meetings between multiple contracts for clarification of interface items
  • Facilitate and track urgent and high priority interfaces on a daily basis.

Job Requirements:

  • Holds a recognized degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering with eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC);
     
  • Relevant design and construction experience in some of the following areas
     
  • Heavy Civil Construction;
  • Hydroelectric Project Development;
  • High Voltage Substation Construction;
  • High Voltage Transmission Line Construction;
  • Experience operating within crown corporations or government environments;
  • Strong written and verbal English communication, interpersonal and leadership skills;
     
  • Ability to understand multi-discipline designs concepts depicted on construction drawings
     
  • Ability to promote effective communication within a multi-discipline team (safety, environmental, regulatory, geotechnical, civil-structural, electrical and mechanical);
  • Working safely, including promotion of a safety above all else culture in the work place
     
  • High awareness of safe working practices associated with design, construction, precommissioning, commissioning of hydroelectric infrastructure;
  • Interpretation of schedules for large construction projects;
  • Computer proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products;
     
  • Ability to re-locate to Fort St. John; and Ability to work set shift schedules to be discussed during the interview process;
     
  • P.Eng. with specialist knowledge of both design and construction interfaces;
 
Experience in:
  • Specific coordination of milestone interfaces between contracts
  • Construction of Hydroelectric projects
  • Coordination of design and/or construction interfaces
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
 
This location is eligible for a Remote Incentive of 12%. Remote Incentives are paid bi-weekly to Full-Time Regular employees working in eligible remote locations.
 
This location is eligible for Extended Health Care Medical Travel Benefit. The Extended Health Care Medical Travel Benefit is extended to Full-Time Regular, Part-Time regular and Full-Time Temporary employees who are permanently working in eligible remote locations.
