Job Description:

As a Machinist with Arctech Welding + Machining, the successful applicant will specialize and have vast experience in all aspects related to the machining trade.  These would consist of but not limited to turning, milling, tapping, threading and drilling.  The applicant would also be responsible for the complete operations of the machine shop consisting of but not limited to customer service, consumables, equipment and area up keep.

Job Requirements:

As a Machinist at Arctech Welding + Machining your job requirements/duties will consist of but will not be limited to;
  • Ability to work, stand or walk for extended periods of time  on various surfaces
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl for extended periods of time to carry out your duties as a machinist
  • Operation and safe use of hand, power and air tools
  • Operation and safe use of machining equipment such as lathe’s, mills, pedestal drills and line boring
  • Operation and safe use of overhead cranes via remote controlled hand controls
  • Operation and safe use of oxy/fuel gas cutting equipment
  • Ability to read Blue Prints of various types and styles
  • Ability to lift items up to and over 25 kg
  • Maintain a safe and clean work space
  • Maintain and update online company training and safety documentation
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work with deadlines
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member
  • Respectfully able to work with all types of people with different personalities, cultures, and customs
  • Possess a high attention to detail
  • Possess a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills
  • Effective organizational, stress and time management skills
  • Good housekeeping skills
  • Experience with CNC equipment preferred
  • Line boring experience
  • Hydraulic cylinder repair experience
  • Basic welding experience
  • Willing to do overtime at short notice when required
  • Journeyman machinist ticket is preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years work experience working in a machine shop if applying as a non-journeyman candidate
  • Strong mathematical understanding as it relates to machining
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation as travel is required
  • WHMIS Ticket
  • Fluent in English
